Sawyer V. is an enthusiast who is genuinely into this: reads the manuals, compiles the published specs, and does the math. No lab coat.
What that means, precisely
It is worth being exact, because "enthusiast" is a word that gets stretched into an expertise claim. It is not one here.
| Claimed | Not claimed |
|---|---|
| Reads manufacturers' installation manuals and datasheets | Any professional electrical qualification or license |
| Does the electrical arithmetic and shows every step | Years of industry experience, or any tenure at all |
| Cites the source for every number published | Hands-on testing of any charger on this site |
| Reads the published standards and the public record | Ownership of any of the products covered |
| Genuine interest in the subject | Any framing that implies authority, tenure or professional standing |
There is a reason this is spelled out rather than glossed. The competitive field here leads with credentialed bylines and real test labs -- an EV journalist running a published test protocol, a site with an instrumented two-car garage, an electrician network whose author runs their program operations. Those are real credentials, and we are not going to imitate them with words.
What we compete on instead
Published, reproducible methodology. Specifications compiled from manufacturers' own documents and cited. Electrical arithmetic shown in full so you can check every step rather than trust anyone. Costs computed from named published sources with the date they were fetched.
That is a narrower claim than a lab, and it has one advantage a lab does not: you can verify all of it yourself from your chair. How we pick sets out the whole method.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, say so. Corrections get fixed in place, and where the correction changes the substance of a recommendation it gets a dated note rather than a quiet edit. Someone who knows more than we do about one specific thing pointing it out is the single most valuable message this site receives.
