Editorial policy
The rules this site is written under: how every number is sourced, what we will never publish, and what happens when we get something wrong.

This page sets out the rules this site is written under. They are specific rather than aspirational, because a policy nobody can check you against is decoration.
1. Sourcing: no number without a source
Every factual claim traces to a named source, and the source is on the page:

Arithmetic is shown, not asserted. "A 48 A charger on 240 V draws 11.5 kW (48 x 240 = 11,520 W). On a car averaging 3.5 mi/kWh that adds roughly 40 miles per hour." Every step is visible because that visibility is our substitute for a test lab, and it only works if the working is on the page.
2. What we will never publish
- A claim that we tested something we did not test. No "in our testing", no "we found", no "after three months with this unit", no sensory detail about a product we do not have.
- A fabricated review, testimonial, rating or review count. There are no testimonials on this site. There is no star rating for Plug & Pylon. There never will be.
- A price, a "was/now", or a discount percentage. We run no live price layer, so any price here would be a number that was true once. Buy buttons say "Check price".
- A credential or tenure claim for our author. Nothing implying professional standing, authority, or years behind the subject. The byline, stated exactly.
- A figure whose origin we cannot name. Where something is genuinely unpublished, we write that instead of estimating.
- A link to a compromised site. During research we found a site ranking in this category while serving unrelated spam content. We do not cite or link it, and we will not name it here either -- naming it would be the link.
3. What we do when we do not know
We say so, on the page, in the place where the number would have gone. Examples currently live on this site:
- Per-model AC charging rates on vehicle pages -- these vary by trim and model year and we hold no citable per-trim source, so every page sends you to your owner's manual instead.
- The percentage of range lost in cold weather -- it depends on temperature, speed, heating use and the car, so we publish the mechanism rather than a number.
- The safety listing of one budget portable charger we could not verify from published sources, which is stated as a caveat on the page rather than glossed over.
4. Independence
- No manufacturer, retailer or electrician network has any input into what is published here.
- No free products, sponsored placements or paid rankings, at any price.
- One affiliate program, Amazon's, disclosed on the disclosure page and above every monetized page.
- Commission plays no part in ranking. Several pages recommend buying nothing.
5. Corrections
- Report it through the contact form with the page and the specific line.
- We check it against the primary source.
- We fix it in place. Typos and small factual slips are simply corrected.
- Substantive corrections get a dated note saying what changed, where the correction alters a recommendation or a number a reader might have acted on. We do not quietly rewrite a pick.
- The last-updated date changes to reflect the real edit.
6. Review cadence

7. AI and how this site is written
Pages here are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed against the sourcing rules above before publication. That is worth stating plainly, because plenty of sites in this category do the same and describe it as a hands-on test program.
What matters is not the drafting tool but whether the claims are checkable. That is why every number here carries a source, every calculation shows its working, and the one thing we cannot verify -- hands-on experience with the products -- is disclaimed on every page rather than invented.
