Good news first: a home Level 2 charger is not model-specific. There is no Ioniq charger and no Rivian charger. Any properly certified Level 2 unit with the right connector will charge any car that accepts that connector, at whatever speed the slower of the two supports.
So the by-vehicle question reduces to three things: which connector your car has, how fast its onboard charger can accept AC power, and how much range you need to add overnight. That is it.
This is the single most misunderstood thing in home charging. The box on your wall offers power; the car decides how much of it to take. That decision is made by the car's onboard charger, a component with a fixed maximum.
Many EVs accept 11.5 kW (48 amps). Plenty accept 7.7 kW (32 amps). Some plug-in hybrids accept 3.3 kW or less. If your car accepts 7.7 kW, a 48-amp wall unit charges it at exactly the same speed as a 32-amp one -- you have bought headroom for your next car, which is a legitimate reason, but not more speed today.

Check your car's manual for its AC acceptance rate before paying for amps it cannot use.
Most manufacturers have committed to the NACS connector, and new models are shipping with NACS ports. That does not strand a J1772 charger. Cars that move to NACS ship with a J1772 adapter, and the physical standards are compatible for AC charging through an adapter in either direction.
The practical advice: buy the connector your current car has, keep the adapter that comes with your next one, and do not pay a premium today for a transition that adapters already handle. J1772 vehicles and NACS vehicles list which is which.
