The connector

Ford is among the manufacturers that have committed to NACS, and by mid-2026 published lists confirm essentially every major automaker selling EVs in the US had signed on. Model-year timing varies, so the reliable check is the charge port on your car, which sits on the front left fender.

A CCS-equipped Mach-E takes a J1772 home charger directly. A NACS-equipped one ships with a J1772 adapter, so a J1772 unit remains the versatile buy. Adapters.

Charge port position matters for cable length

The Mach-E's port is on the front left fender. If you park nose-in and your wall is on the right, the cable has to travel the full width and length of the car. This is exactly the situation that catches people out -- measure the real path and add slack before choosing a model. How to measure.

2. Harsh weather and no app

Grizzl-E Classic

A cast-aluminum box with no app, no account and no firmware to update. If you want a charger that behaves like an appliance, this is the one.

What is good

  • Protections for over-current, over-voltage, ground fault and over-temperature

What is not

  • 40 A ceiling, slower than the 48 A units if your panel can take more
