The best home charger for a Toyota bZ
Toyota refreshed its electric crossover for 2026, dropped the bZ4X name for bZ, and gave it a native NACS port. Earlier cars use CCS. One J1772 charger serves both.

bZ4X or bZ: the connector
CarGurus describes the refreshed 2026 Toyota bZ as coming with a native NACS port, and notes that older models of the bZ -- formerly known as the bZ4X -- can buy an adapter for NACS fast-charging networks. At home, the older car's CCS port takes a J1772 charger directly.

Keep it simple
A crossover used for daily driving rarely needs the biggest charger on the shelf. A 32 or 40 A unit replaces a typical day overnight, needs a smaller circuit, and is kinder to a panel near its limit. 32 A vs 40 A vs 48 A.

1. Harsh weather and no app

What is good

- Protections for over-current, over-voltage, ground fault and over-temperature
What is not
- 40 A ceiling, slower than the 48 A units if your panel can take more
- No scheduling, so off-peak charging has to be set in the car
- The cold-flexible 24 ft cable is only on the Extreme Edition
