The best home charger for a Polestar

The Polestar 2, 3 and 4 all use CCS, with NACS adapters sold through Polestar's Service Points for Supercharger access. At home, the answer is a J1772 charger.

The connector

Polestar's NACS-to-CCS adapter lets a Polestar use Tesla Superchargers. It exists because the cars have CCS ports -- whose AC section is J1772. That makes home charging simple: any J1772 Level 2 charger connects directly.

Choosing the charger

Check the AC charging rate in your manual and match it; a charger above the car's onboard limit charges no faster. If you want scheduling and energy data in an app, the Wallbox and Emporia both offer it; if not, a no-app unit works just as well. Smart chargers.

2. A first charger, hardwired

Emporia Level 2 EV Charger (Classic)

The safe default for a first home charger: 48 amps hardwired, a genuinely long cable, a NEMA 4 outdoor-rated case, and no subscription attached to the app.

A J1772 Level 2 charger. The Polestar 2, 3 and 4 use CCS ports, whose AC section is J1772.
Do Polestars have a NACS port?
Not per the published list we cite: Polestar sells NACS-to-CCS adapters for the 2, 3 and 4, which means their own ports are CCS.
Do I need Polestar's NACS adapter at home?
No. It is for Tesla Superchargers on the road. A J1772 home charger plugs straight into the car.
