These two rarely appear on the same shortlist, which is a shame, because they are the clearest illustration of the one real choice in this class: a charger you configure from your phone, or a charger that has nothing to configure.

The app question, made concrete

The Pulsar Plus is configured in its app, including the current setting -- which is genuinely useful if your circuit changes, or if you want to dial the charger back while something else runs. It also means setup depends on a phone, an account and a Wi-Fi signal at the far end of the house.

The NEXUS has none of that. Its current is set at installation and then it behaves like an appliance. Scheduling happens in the car, which every EV can do. Charging at night covers that route, and the no-app roundup covers the category.

Installation flexibility

This is the NEXUS's quiet advantage: Lectron sells a 40 A plug-in version of the same charger. If your panel will not stretch to a 60 A circuit, you can still buy the unit and put it on an existing NEMA 14-50. The 48 A Pulsar Plus has no plug-in equivalent. Hardwired vs plug-in.

Which one to buy

• Buy the NEXUS if you want no software, a NACS option, or the flexibility to run it at 40 A on a plug.
• Buy the Pulsar Plus if wall space is tight, or if you want to change the charging current from your phone rather than call an electrician.
• Buy neither if your panel cannot carry 60 A -- the 40-amp tier is the sensible fallback.

The smallest 48 A unit here at roughly 7.8 by 7.9 inches, which matters more than it sounds when the only free wall is beside a door.
