The short version: the Pulsar Plus is the smallest 48-amp unit we cover, at a published 7.8 by 7.9 by 3.9 inches and 4.4 pounds without the cable. If wall space is your constraint rather than amperage or budget, that is the reason to buy it.

When physical size is the deciding spec

It sounds like a trivial thing to buy on. It is not, in three fairly common situations: a garage where the only free wall is a narrow strip beside a door; a shared parking bay where the unit must not intrude into the next space; and any installation where the charger sits beside the panel and there is a code-required clearance to respect around the panel itself.

The configurable current range

Wallbox publishes a configurable range of 6 to 48 amps, which is finer-grained than most competitors. In practice that is useful for exactly one thing -- fitting the charger to whatever circuit your panel can actually support -- and it makes the Pulsar Plus a reasonable alternative to the ChargePoint Home Flex if you like the smaller body. The hardwiring constraint

At 48 amps the Pulsar Plus is hardwired. That means an electrician, and it means the charger stays with the house if you move. For many buyers that is fine or even preferable; if you specifically want a unit you can unplug and take with you, this is the wrong one. Hardwired vs plug-in covers the trade honestly.

Who should not buy it

  • You want to take it with you. Hardwired at 48 A.
  • Wall space is not a problem. You are paying for compactness you do not need.
  • You want no app. Setup runs through the app.
  • You want the longest possible cable. At 25 feet it ties the Autel, so this one is not a differentiator either way.
