The best home charger for a Chevrolet Silverado EV

A full-size electric pickup with a CCS port -- GM's first native-NACS models were Cadillacs. That means a J1772 home charger, and a strong case for the biggest circuit your panel allows.

The connector

CarGurus reports that the 2026 Cadillac Optiq and Optiq-V are the first GM models to come standard with a native NACS port, while GM's other existing EVs -- a lineup that includes the Silverado EV, Sierra EV and Hummer EV -- have a NACS adapter available. That adapter is for NACS fast-charging networks. At home, the Silverado EV's CCS port takes a J1772 charger directly.

At 48 A (11.5 kW): about 8 hours 40 minutes

At 50 A (12 kW): about 8 hours 20 minutes

For most cars this site argues against overbuying amperage. A full-size electric truck, especially one that tows, is the exception -- provided the truck's onboard charger accepts it and your panel can carry the circuit. A 48 A charger needs 60 A; a 50 A charger, 70 A. Chargers for a 200-amp panel.

2. Long reach outdoors
