Grizzl-E Duo Connect vs Tesla Wall Connector

Two EVs and one circuit is the most common upgrade problem on this site, and these two products solve it from opposite ends. The Duo Connect puts two cables on one charger. Tesla's answer is to buy two chargers and let them negotiate the circuit between themselves.

Either way, one circuit's worth of power is being split two ways
This is the part buyers miss: no product creates electricity. A single 50 A or 60 A circuit delivers what it delivers, and every two-car solution divides it. The difference is packaging, connectors and what the installation costs. Chargers for two EVs covers the whole field.
Installation: one plug against two hardwired boxes
The Duo Connect plugs into a NEMA 14-50, which is the same outlet a single 40 A charger uses. If you already have one, this is close to a no-electrician upgrade.
Two Wall Connectors means two hardwired installations, two wall positions and a 60 A circuit they share. That is a real electrician visit and a bigger bill -- but it also gives each car its own cable and, when only one car is plugged in, the full 48 A. Hardwired vs plug-in.

1. Two EVs on one circuit

Two 25 ft cables on one 40 A plug-in charger, so two EVs can be plugged in at once. The honest catch is in the maker's own spec: 40 A total, and 20 A each when both cars charge together.
What is good
- Two cars can stay plugged in on one 50 A circuit, with no swapping cables at midnight
- Two 25 ft cables, the longest on this site, so both bays are reachable
- Connector pairs to suit a mixed household: J1772/J1772, J1772/NACS or NACS/NACS

What is not
- 40 A is the total, not per car: United Chargers lists 20 A each when two vehicles charge at once
- Plug-in only at 40 A, so there is no 48 A hardwired version
- Costs far more than one Classic Connect, which gives a single car the full 40 A
- Two-car households that charge at different times gain nothing over a single charger
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, like the rest of the Connect range

2. Tesla owners
Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3)

48 A, a 24 ft cable and a four-year warranty, the longest in this group. The catch is the connector: Gen 3 is NACS, so a J1772 car needs an adapter.
