What the ratings mean in practice
Why the amp rating is not the deciding factor
A home circuit tops out at 48 A for a hardwired charger, 40 A for a plug-in one
The Lectron J1772-to-NACS adapter is rated 80 A

Both are above anything a house will ask of them, so pick on certification and build, not amperage.
What does matter is certification. The Lectron adapter publishes UL 2252 certification -- a standard written specifically for EV coupler adapters -- plus temperature monitoring in the body. On a part that carries the full charging current through two extra contact sets for hours, that is the specification to look for. How to read certification wording.
The two rules
- Buy manufacturer-made or manufacturer-approved. An adapter carries the full charging current through two additional contact sets, in a part nobody inspects. Cheap unbranded adapters are exactly where you do not want to save money.
- Never chain two adapters together. Each junction adds resistance and a failure point. If you need two adapters to reach a socket, you have the wrong charger for that socket.
Living with one
It is fine, and a great many households do it daily. The adapter normally stays clipped to the charger's connector rather than being fitted each time. Two practical notes: it adds a few inches and a little weight to the connector end, which occasionally matters if your cable was already at its limit -- cable length -- and it is one more thing that can walk off.
What these are not for
DC fast charging. CCS-to-NACS and NACS-to-CCS adapters are separate products for public fast chargers, and they have nothing to do with home charging. Volkswagen, for instance, supplies a NACS DC adapter with its model year 2026 EVs specifically for Supercharger access -- that is a different device from anything on this page.

- Most owners already have one in the car and do not need to buy anything
- AC only -- it is not a DC fast-charging adapter
- One more loose item to keep track of, unless it lives clipped to the cable
