Emporia Vue 3 review
A panel-mounted energy monitor that can put a sensor on your EV charger's circuit and show what charging really costs. Here is what Emporia publishes, and who it is for.

The Vue is not an EV product, but it answers the two questions a new EV owner asks most: what is charging really costing, and how much room does the panel have left? We have not tested one; figures come from Emporia's published pages, linked at the foot of this page.

What it tells an EV owner
- The real cost of charging. A sensor on the charger circuit reads what your meter sees, losses included -- the number your bill is based on. Cost to charge at home.
- Panel headroom. Weeks of real peak demand are useful evidence before choosing a charger's amperage. They inform a load calculation; they do not replace one.

More than 16 circuits, or 400-amp service
Emporia's answer is a second Vue. Each supports up to 16 circuit sensors, and several Vues combine in the app with aggregated totals -- the route Emporia describes for 400-amp service, multiple panels, or more than 16 circuits.
Who should skip it
- You only want a whole-home total. Sixteen circuit sensors is a lot of hardware for one number.
