Emporia Vue 3 review

A panel-mounted energy monitor that can put a sensor on your EV charger's circuit and show what charging really costs. Here is what Emporia publishes, and who it is for.

What it tells an EV owner

  • The real cost of charging. A sensor on the charger circuit reads what your meter sees, losses included -- the number your bill is based on. Cost to charge at home.
  • Panel headroom. Weeks of real peak demand are useful evidence before choosing a charger's amperage. They inform a load calculation; they do not replace one.

More than 16 circuits, or 400-amp service

Emporia's answer is a second Vue. Each supports up to 16 circuit sensors, and several Vues combine in the app with aggregated totals -- the route Emporia describes for 400-amp service, multiple panels, or more than 16 circuits.

Who should skip it

  • You only want a whole-home total. Sixteen circuit sensors is a lot of hardware for one number.
