Why an EV owner would want one
- Real panel headroom. Watching your peak household demand for a few weeks is useful evidence before choosing a charger's amperage, particularly on a 100-amp panel. It does not replace a load calculation, but it informs one.
- True charging cost. Your car reports the energy the battery received. A monitor on the charger circuit reports what your meter saw, including losses -- the number your bill is based on. What charging costs at home.

The Vue's approach is brute force: put a clamp on every circuit you care about and read it. Sense's is inference: watch the whole-house waveform and learn to recognize what switched on. Inference needs fewer sensors, but it is still inference: Sense itself offers Flex sensors for dedicated circuits and lists EV chargers among the loads they suit. For a large, steady load like an EV charger, a dedicated sensor removes all doubt.
