FLO Home X3 review
FLO's entry home charger: 50 amps when hardwired, a choice of connector, and an enclosure rated from -40 F to 122 F. Here is what FLO publishes, and who it is for.

The X3 is the simplest charger in FLO's home range, and the only one of the three with a fixed holster and no daisy-chain option. We have not tested one; this review is built from FLO's published pages and the ENERGY STAR dataset, linked at the foot of this page.

What 50 amps asks of your house
The arithmetic
50 A x 240 V = 12,000 W = 12 kW
At 3.5 mi/kWh: about 42 miles of range per hour
Required circuit: 50 x 1.25 = 62.5 A, so a 70 A breaker
On a NEMA 14-50, which sits on a 50 A circuit: 40 A continuous, 9.6 kW
Full output needs the hardwired version and a 70 A circuit. Your car then charges at the lower of 12 kW and its own onboard charger's AC rate, so check the manual before paying for the bigger circuit. How many amps you need.
The app
- Schedules, to charge inside cheaper off-peak hours.
- Virtual lock mode, FLO's name for restricting who can charge -- useful on an open driveway.
- Remote start and stop, real-time status, charging history and notifications.
- Cellular connectivity is listed, but FLO says it is a feature in development and may not be enabled at purchase.
Who should buy it
- A car that can take more than 40 A, and a panel that can spare a 70 A circuit. The 50-amp picks.
- An exposed wall in a cold climate. FLO rates the Type 4X enclosure down to -40 F. Cold-weather chargers.
- A Tesla household that wants a NACS connector without buying Tesla's own unit. FLO vs Tesla Wall Connector.
Who should skip it
- You want no app at all. Chargers without an app.
- Two EVs on one circuit. FLO lists daisy-chaining for the X6 and X8, not the X3. Two-EV households.
- A plug-in install where the outlet is not right beside the charger. The plug-in version's cord is 24 inches.
